AMSlab participates as a mentor in the Troya Mentoring Project, which seeks to increase the employability of people with Intellectual Disabilities in Lugo

At AMSlab, we have always prioritized social inclusion and corporate social responsibility. That is why we are pleased to participate as mentors in the Troya Mentoring Project, a joint initiative of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the Aula TIC PYMEs and the Down Syndrome Association of Lugo. It is a sponsorship project for the labor inclusion of people with Down syndrome and/or other intellectual disabilities.

The main objective of the project is to improve the employability of people with intellectual disabilities in the province of Lugo, providing them with specialized training to enable them to understand the internal workings of companies.

In addition, it seeks to raise awareness among companies and university students about the barriers faced by this group in accessing employment.

Thus, on 5 March, the Troya Mentoring Project training process began, addressing key issues such as communication within the company, conflict management, management of administration tools and software such as Excel, email and call management, among others.

This training period will culminate on 7 May, when the trainees begin their 100-hour internships, providing them with invaluable work experience and preparing them for effective integration into the job market.

The project is backed by the sponsorship of nine companies from Lugo, among which we are one of them, who have committed to offering work placements to the students of the course, becoming godfathers and godmothers of this worthy cause.

The University of Santiago de Compostela, through its Campus Terra Volunteer Office, has also played a fundamental role by selecting four volunteers who will provide additional support to the students during their training, preparing them for the internship process.

At AMSlab we have had the privilege of participating in previous editions of the project, such as the Edison Project, which was focused on the labor insertion of people with physical disabilities.

Collaborating in initiatives like these keeps us excited and reinforces our commitment to the inclusion and professional development of people with Intellectual Disabilities. We hope to significantly contribute to the participants’ success on their path to employment.

We look forward to the student who comes to do an internship with us!
